Life’s Worth Living Foundation Begins It’s Third Year

A Life’s Worth Living Foundation begins its third year, we are excited about the direction we are heading and the work that we have already accomplished. Life’s Worth Living Foundation has a three-fold mission to raise awareness, educate, and prevent suicides. From our humble beginnings at the start of 2014, we were able to assess the needs of the county and work towards serving those needs.

We were able to start a successful support group that meets once a month. It has grown out of a classroom at a church into a larger room at Mountain West Medical Center. Our support group meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 7pm in the classroom next to the cafeteria. The support group is for survivors of suicide as well those who are suicidal. It provides a safe place to share as well as a place for healing.

The foundation has been able to host community events to better the life’s of those in Tooele County. We have brought in professional athletes to speak on addiction, presented public movie screenings on bullying, and provided life coaching. Each of these events have had successful turnouts and improved the life’s of those who attended. We will continue host events like these to raise awareness and educate. As a foundation we have brought trainings on suicide prevention that have not been previously come to Tooele County and will continue to lead in this area.

Out of 8,800 registered Utah non-profits we were invited to be one of 40 recognized and in attendance on Capitol Hill to be recognized for the work we do in the area
of suicide prevention. We work closely with our Senators and Representatives and have frequent contact with them. We were very involved with Senator Thatcher in bringing the SafeUT app to our area. We are currently working on new legislation and finding new ways the improve our community and state in the area of suicide prevention.

We have successfully hosted another record breaking year of both our golf tournament at the Links at Overlake as well as our It’s a Wonderful Life Festival held at the Deseret Peak Complex.
